Granite Falls: Free full-day kindergartenThe Granite Falls School District will offer all-day kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year at no fee. Elementary schools in the district will hold informational meetings at Mountain Way Elementary, 702 N Granite Ave., on March 26 and Monte Cristo Elementary, 1201 100th St. NE, on March 27 to register children. Lake Stevens: Pot ordinance has restrictionsThe Lake Stevens City Council enacted an ordinance that regulates marijuana-related businesses in the city. The law closely follows state law, but imposes tighter regulations in a few areas, capping production facilities at 10,000 square feet of plant canopy, limiting the total area of production and processing facilities in the city’s industrial area to 100,000 square feet, and limiting one marijuana-related facility per parcel. There have been no applications for retail licenses in the city.
Lakewood: Kindergarten roundup loomsKindergarten registration for the Lakewood School District beings March 25 with the first Kindergarten Roundup at elementary schools in the district. Registration packets will be available at each school starting March 10. Round up will be held 3:30-6:30 p.m. March 25 at all three schools, then from 1-3:30 p.m. March 26 and 27. Monroe: Help examine budgetMonroe Public Schools are set to begin work on the 2014-15 operating budget with the volunteer budget review committee.
Volunteers are invited to spend Feb. 21 examining the schools’ operating budget from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the administration building, located at 200 E. Fremont St., Monroe.
Committee members are expected to brainstorm suggestions for efficiencies and learning enhancements.

Two evening budget forums are also scheduled.
The first is set for 6:30 p.m. on April 3 at Hidden River Middle School, located at 9224 Paradise Lake Road. The other is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 14 at Park Place Middle School, located at 1408 West Main St.
No reservation is needed to participate in the April forums.
Those unable to attend the meetings may send suggestions to the superintendent’s office. Reports of the process are expected to be posted online at www.monroe.wednet.edu.
Snohomish: Chamber breakfastThe Snohomish Chamber of Commerce ambassadors club is inviting business representatives from Snohomish, Lake Stevens and Monroe to a breakfast. The event is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Feb. 25 at the Snohomish Boys and Girls Club. The club is located at 402 2nd St.

Sultan: Shindig artists soughtThe Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce is inviting local artists to submit designs for the 2014 Sultan summer Shindig tshirt and poster.
Organizers are seeking a submission that captures the event’s energy or the Sky Valley.
Artwork may be emailed through March 1 to the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce at Debbie@Skyvalleyvic.net.
The chamber expects to announce a winner in mid-March. The artist wins a feature article in the 2014 Sky Valley Event Guide.
