Arlington: Man wins car on his birthday
Gary Wiseman of Arlington won a 2013 Ford Mustang coupe from the Washington’s Lottery through a second chance drawing in late May.
Wiseman won after he sent a nonwinning Muscle Car Money scratch ticket on May 25, the day Wiseman celebrated his 47th birthday, a lottery spokeswoman said. There were 56,000 tickets in the drawing. Two more cars can be won on other drawings scheduled for June 15 and Aug. 16.

Everett: Meeting on future of county parks
Snohomish County parks officials are hosting a final meeting Thursday to gather advice from the public about long-term recreation goals.
The meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in conference room 1F07 of the county administration buildings, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Public comments will help the county parks department identify its priorities for the next several years. The parks department also hosted meetings last year and has issued a parks survey to about 20,000 randomly selected residents of the county.

Freeland: Fire board to vote on levy
Commissioners at South Whidbey Fire and EMS are expected to decide next week whether to ask voters for a levy lid increase in November.
The fire district now draws 61 cents per $1,000 of property value. If the levy is placed on the ballot, voters would decide whether to approve a new levy of up to 76 cents per $1,000.
The vote to place the levy on the ballot is planned for 5:30 p.m. June 14 at Fire Station 31, 5535 Cameron Road, Freeland. Everyone is welcome.

Snohomish County: Share your manure
In search of manure or compost for spring gardening? Have more livestock manure than you know what to do with?
The Snohomish Conservation District has a manure sharing program that connects manure producers with manure users.

Stanwood: City earns performance award
For the sixth year in a row, the city of Stanwood has earned the state’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance award.
Mayor Dianne White said that the Department of Ecology audits about 300 wastewater treatment plants in the state and only 108 achieved full compliance with permitting for 2011.
“This department of the city is really small and to achieve this award everything has to be perfect, 24/7,” White said.
