Arlington: Novice equestrian show set
An equestrian show for less experienced horse riders is set for Friday evening at the High Hand Arena. Kari Lohman plans to host the show in what she calls a “non-threatening, confidence-building, motivating environment for people who don’t usually participate in competitive shows and races.”
Lohman hopes to attract enough riders to keep the event going each second and fourth Fridays through April.
Cost is $25 and prizes will be awarded.
Formerly known as Bullards, the High Hand Arena is located at 18229 107th Ave. NE off Burn Road.

Mountlake Terrace: Hall Creek update
The Hall Creek culvert removal and Ballinger Lake Golf Course sewer replacement project is nearly complete, the city reported in a press release.
The natural stream has replaced the culverts and a pedestrian bridge now allows walkers to cross the creek from the Lake Ballinger neighborhood. The water main and other utilities have been rerouted under the creek and the adjacent end of 230th Street SW has been rebuilt.
The removal of four culverts at the 230th Street SW crossing of Hall Creek has helped alleviate flooding issues. The sewer construction replaced an existing sewer that had settled significantly over the past 40 years and required monthly cleaning to remove accumulating material that restricted flow and caused blockages. The project included a much-needed restoration of the golf course parking lot.
