Edmonds: City clerk to retire
Longtime Edmonds City Clerk Sandy Chase plans to retire this fall.
The city hopes to hire a replacement, too, to train alongside her, according to a news release.
Chase has been a well-respected and valuable city employee, Mayor Dave Earling said.
She was hired by the city in 1993 and was promoted to her current position in 1995.
She was employee of the year in 2003.
She and her husband plan to stay in the community after her retirement.
The job is expected to be posted this week.
Everett: Recycling event scheduled
Cascade High School’s class of 2014 plans to host a community metal and electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the school’s parking lot at 801 E. Casino Road. Items that may be donated include lawnmowers, barbecues, appliances (refrigerators must have cfcs removed), printers, computers, televisions, cable, lawn furniture, chain-link fencing, office machines and DVD and VCR players.
Proceeds will go toward the high school’s Grad Night 2014.

Lynnwood: Mayor candidates forum
A forum for Lynnwood mayoral and City Council candidates is planned for 7 p.m. today at Edmonds Community College’s Black Box Theatre, 20000 68th Ave. W.
The forum will include a question-and-answer session for the candidates, event organizers said. Each candidate will have a chance to address the crowd.
The forum is free and open to the public.
Most candidates are expected to attend, including Mayor Don Gough.
The other candidates running for mayor are Council Members Loren Simmonds and Mark Smith, and Nicola Smith, a dean at the college.
Three of the city’s seven council positions also are up for election.
Marysville: Music series kicks off with Wild Snohomians
The Marysville Parks and Recreation’s Sounds of Summer concert series begins at 7 p.m. Thursday with the band Wild Snohomians featuring roadhouse rock covers.
The free concert will be held at Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Road. Non- perishable food donations will be accepted on behalf of the food bank.

Snohomish: Animal adoption event planned
An animal adoption fair is planned from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday during Kla Ha Ya Days, the annual festival in Snohomish. Several well-known rescue groups from around the area will bring dogs, cats and horses for people to adopt.
Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital is hosting the adoption fair at its offices at 11308 92nd St. SE, Snohomish.
The event is open to the public. Animals, large and small, are welcome on leashes.
