Maltby: Wellington Hills park meeting set
Snohomish County has scheduled a public meeting next Wednesday to discuss its master plan for building a sports complex at the future Wellington Hills County Park.
The meeting is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brightwater Education and Community Center, 22509 Highway 9, Maltby.
The county earlier this year paid the University of Washington $10 million for the 100-acre property on 240th Street SE. Plans call for spending about the same amount of money to build sports fields, walking trails and other amenities there.
Some neighbors have expressed alarm about the scope of the project, which they say is out of scale with the surrounding area. Particular concerns include the county’s plans for lighted ball fields and extra traffic the park would bring.
