Arlington: Chicken dinner fundraiser set
Stillaguamish Senior Center offers a chicken dinner with all the fixings from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.
General admission is $8, $7 for seniors and $5 for those younger than 12. Proceeds benefit center programs.

Lynnwood: Lake Stickney Park will grow
Donated land will add to the size of Snohomish County’s Lake Stickney Community Park.
The undeveloped, residentially zoned property includes about two-thirds of an acre along Swamp Creek. It comes from the estate of the late Greta Alice Corbett.
The County Council voted 4-0 Wednesday to accept the property.
The new parcel will add to approximately 16 acres of conservation area the county already owns on the western lake shore.
Volunteers have been working to restore natural vegetation in the area. Another work party is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5. Register to participate at http://tinyurl.com/stickneywork.

Marysville: Ladies Night Out planned
Handcrafted and commercial jewelry vendors are set to sell and display pieces today during a Ladies Night Out and Jewelry Show at the Ken Baxter Community Center.
The free event from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. is also set to include an event etiquette workshop, modeling of prom and wedding dresses, make-up demos and hand treatments.
The Ken Baxter Community Center is located at 514 Delta Ave.

Monroe: Join hotel tax advisory committee
Monroe is looking for people to serve on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee for one year.
Requirements for the unpaid position include being a representative of a hotel or motel business that collects the lodging tax, or be involved in activities authorized to receive this funding, which includes tourism promotion or be a tourism-related facility.
Submit a letter of interest by May 11 to Joan Cook, City of Monroe, 806 W. Main St, Monroe, WA 98272.
The committee reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on which projects to fund with the revenue. The committee meets twice per year.

Council approves transportation district
The Monroe City Council unanimously approved creating a Transportation Benefit District on Tuesday night.
The city hopes to raise about $1 million each year for street maintenance and transportation projects.
The board would be made up of City Council members.
