Camano Island: Film to be shown
Join filmmaker John F. Williams for a video tour of the underwater world swirling just off local beaches.
The presentation is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.
“Invisible Shoreline” combines underwater video clips, photographs and conversations to illustrate some of the marine activities that can’t be observed directly and are not part of daily human experience. The event is part of the WSU Island County Camano Beach Watchers speaker series.

Everett: Grant pays for sleeper beds
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound has provided a $36,430 grant to purchase sleeper/daybeds in patient rooms in the pediatric inpatient unit at Providence Regional Medical Center’s Colby Campus. The grant will provide 13 sleeper/daybeds so parents can stay the night with their hospitalized child.
Monroe: Come get your passport
The city is participating “Passport Day in the USA 2012” by providing information and receiving passport applications from 8 a.m. to noon, March 10, at City Hall, 806 W. Main St.
People wanting to get a passport are required to bring a check or money order, a certified copy of their birth certificate and an old passport book if they have one.
People can submit their passport application 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to noon Fridays.
Mountlake Terrace: New commissioner
The City Council recently appointed Logan Galyan to fill an interim vacancy on the city’s Planning Commission.
The seven-member, volunteer board makes recommendations to the City Council about land-use issues. The Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Monday of each month.
Galyan’s term runs through mid-2014. Galyan has served on the Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission since February 2011.
Mukilteo: Holiday pushes back meeting
The Mukilteo City Council plans to meet Tuesday instead of Monday because of the Presidents Day holiday.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. Proposed changes to the city’s laws governing business licenses and commercial parking taxes are on the agenda.

Sultan: 2 appointed to Planning Board
The Sultan City Council has appointed Janet Peterson and Lucy Hitchcock to join the Sultan Planning Board. Both women are scheduled to take their seats at the Feb. 28 meeting.
Hitchcock replaces Steve Harris and her seat expires June 30. Peterson replaced Ken Marshall, who stepped down to serve on the Sultan City Council. Her seat expires June 30.
