Everett: Program offers help for families
The Snohomish County Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is offering a free program to family members and friends of children who are living with a mental illness, including major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, panic and obsessive compulsive disorders, and co-occurring brain and addictive disorders.
This series of six weekly classes helps caregivers understand and support children and adolescents with serious mental illness while maintaining their own well being.
Classes are from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Everett and start on April 12. Registration is required.

Marysville: Literacy, math learning for kids
The Marysville School District is offering a free math and literacy program for children who will attend public school in the district.
Children between the ages of 3 and 5 are eligible to attend along with parents and care providers in the Marysville School District area.
Classes are scheduled from 11 to 11:45 a.m. April 14, 21, 28, and May 5, 12, and 19. Marysville School District math and literacy coaches teach the classes at Marshall Elementary School, 4407 116th St. NE.

Historical Society hosts Spring Tea
The Marysville Historical Society is hosting its 9th annual Spring Tea and Vintage Fashion Show.
The event, “A Berry Festive Tea Celebrating 80 Years of Strawberry Festival” is scheduled from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on April 22 at the Tulalip Resort Hotel.
The menu will include tea sandwiches, strawberry tarts, and other sweets, along with coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate for children. The event is also set to include a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Guests are encouraged to wear fancy hats.
Seating is limited and admission is by reservation only. Seats are $25 each. The Society is also looking for individuals to host tables. Tulalip Resort Hotel is located at 10200 Quil Ceda Blvd. in Tulalip.

Mountlake Terrace: City seeks nominations for Evergreen Awards
Mountlake Terrace city officials are accepting nominations for the fourth annual Evergreen Awards program. The awards were established in 2009 to recognize property owners who take care of their properties.
The award categories are best maintained residence, best maintained business, best maintained multifamily property, most sustainable property and best transformation. Nominees are judged against others in Cedar Terrace, Gateway, Lake Ballinger, Melody Hill, Cascade View and Town Center areas.
Nomination forms, available online at www.cityofmlt.com and at city facilities, will be accepted through May 25. Anyone can submit a nomination. Properties being marketed for sale are not eligible.
