Drop off unwrapped new toys for the U.S. Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots campaign at the Everett Golf and Country Club on the corner of 52nd and Colby.
Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sultan: Giving hope on the Winter Solstice
Sultan, the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce and community members are hosting the Winter Solstice event in an attempt to comfort people in need.

Mill Creek: New police commander
Mill Creek has named a new interim police commander. Sgt. Ken Neaville is appointed to the job as of Jan. 1.
The commander position has been vacant for much of the fall.
Neaville has served with Mill Creek police for more than two decades.
His experience includes supervising the field training program, coordinating basic and advanced training, and teaching DARE classes at local schools.
Index: Fire chief decides to stay on job
Index won’t get a new fire chief after all.
For the past few months, officials at Snohomish County Fire District 28 in Index have been looking for a new fire chief.
The current chief, Michael Fitzgerald, put in his six-month resignation notice this summer.
Fitzgerald also works full-time as a fire captain and fire marshal in Monroe.
The fire district last week announced that the commissioners considered all of the candidates but ultimately decided to ask Fitzgerald to stay.
They said they felt that a change in leadership would hurt the district at this time.
Fitzgerald agreed to stay and help the district meet some of its current goals.
Fire District 28 serves about 800 people within 170 square miles, including most of the Wild Sky Wilderness area.
