Everett: Port plans a holiday celebration

The Port of Everett invites the public to attend its Holiday on the Bay celebration set for 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at 1205 Craftsman Way, Everett.

At 1 p.m. build a gingerbread house while watching a Christmas movie. Advance registration is required.

At 3:30, children plan to perform a holiday music program and at 4 p.m. Santa plans to make an appearance. Other activities planned include a tree lighting and a lighted boat parade.

All events are free.

The Port is accepting donations of toys for the Christmas House, which serves needy families.

The Snohomish County PUD has set up a new automated telephone line for people to report power outages.

Mountlake Terrace: Tree lighting ceremony

The city’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is planned for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave. W. and features caroling, refreshments and a visit from Santa, along with the tree lighting.

Visible for miles around, the enormous “tree” is actually a frame constructed of more than 1,800 lights and placed on top of the city’s water tower. Volunteers serve cookies, along with hot coffee and cocoa. Santa makes a grand entrance on a firetruck. The Terrace Park School Choir will sing Christmas carols.

Mukilteo: Public hearing on plan

The City of Mukilteo plans a public hearing on proposed changes to its comprehensive plan at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way.

There also will be an opportunity for the public to comment at the 6 p.m. Dec. 12 meeting.

The changes included revising or eliminating references in the plan to a new or alternate waterfront vehicle access and adding the city’s preferred option for relocation of the ferry terminal.

Lake Stevens: Tip a firefighter on Saturday

The Lake Stevens firefighters Local 3235 plans an annual fundraiser this weekend for children who need Christmas presents.

The event, Tips for Firefighters, is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Ixtapa restaurant, 303 91st Ave. NE in Lake Stevens.

Firefighters plan to wait tables, and all of the tips they collect will go toward Christmas presents for children identified by the Lake Stevens Family Center.

There also will be fire department vehicles in the parking lot to accept donations of unwrapped gifts for children.

Sultan: Council appoints new member

Planning board member Ken Marshall has been appointed to the Sultan City Council at the last week’s meeting.

Marshall’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for the next council meeting, 7 p.m. Dec. 8, at 319 Main St.

Marshall was one of four candidates vying to fill Sam Pinson’s vacancy. His seat would be up for election in November 2013.
