Lynnwood: New equipment for crews

More than a dozen Lynnwood police officers will be equipped with and trained in the use of automatic external defibrillators. Studies show that the use of the devices by first responders during cardiac emergencies can increase survival rates.

The city fire department will also receive six devices, to be placed on their rigs.

Marysville: Get activity guides

The Winter-Spring 2015 Marysville Parks and Recreation Activities Guide is now available in homes, public buildings and online.

The guide contains a complete listing of winter and spring recreation classes and activities. Copies are available at any city offices, including the library, City Hall, the Parks Office, Police and Public Works buildings. To browse the online version, go to marysvillewa.gov/activitiesguide. You can also sign up on the website for email alerts when the latest editions are available.

Mill Creek: Planners to amend parks proposal

The Mill Creek Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday to consider proposed amendments to the parks and open space portion of the city’s comprehensive plan.

The proposed amendments are posted on the comprehensive planning page of the city’s website.

Snohomish: Food bank seeking donations

The Snohomish Community Food Bank is collecting donations to feed 420 families a Christmas meal this year.

It is asking for specific items, particularly from groups that can pledge a certain quantity. That allows the food bank to offer a similar menu to families.

Needs include canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, cream of mushroom soup, stuffing and salt and pepper. People can call 360-568-7993 to pledge donations. Financial contributions are also welcome. The delivery date for Christmas food is Thursday. For more information, go to snohomishfoodbank.org.

Sultan: Caroling on Monday

Sultan community Christmas caroling is scheduled at 6 p.m. Dec. 22, starting at the First Baptist Church.

People are to ride on hay-filled trailers to sing in different parts of town until 7:30 p.m. All are welcome, and song books will be provided. After caroling, the group plans to have cookies and hot cocoa at the church, at 315 8th St.
