Edmonds: Take tour of cemetery Thursday

Learn the cemetery’s history during a tour at 1 p.m. July 15 at the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery and Columbarium, 820 15th Ave. W.

Monroe: Wine contest returns to fair

Western Washington winemakers have a chance to enter the second annual wine competition at the Evergreen State Fair later this summer.

The competition is open to vintners who use grapes from Western Washington and are located in the area.

Judging is scheduled for Aug. 16 in Bothell and the awards ceremony for Sept. 4 during the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe.

The Evergreen State Fair and Snohomish County’s Office of Economic Development are sponsoring the contest.

Entry forms must be postmarked by July 23.

Oak Harbor: Island County budget forum

Island County Board of Commissioners plan to address the county’s continuing financial crisis at a forum this week.

A proposition by the county on the August ballot asks voters whether they want more property taxes to retain already-reduced public safety and other services.

A forum is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Skagit Valley College, Hayes Hall, Room 137, 1900 SE Pioneer Way, Oak Harbor.

Lake Stevens: Food train helps food bank

The Lake Stevens Railroad food train collects donations for the Lake Stevens Food Bank at the Lake Stevens farmers market.

Those who visit the market on Thursdays can bring a can of food to load on the train and watch it travel around the track. Cash donations are also accepted.

The farmers market is open from 5 p.m. until sunset at North Cove Park, 1803 Main St.

Marysville: Free films at senior center

The Ken Baxter Senior and Community Center will offer free movie showings and popcorn this summer.

The movies will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, Aug. 18 and 25. The center is at 514 Delta Ave.
