Camano Island: Landscape for privacy
People can learn new ways of landscaping to provide privacy or to screen less-desirable views as an alternative to fences and single-row evergreens at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 East Camano Drive.
Mary Archambault of The Plant Farm at Smokey Point plans to offer ideas about creating attractive multilayered borders and hedgerows with a combination of trees, shrubs and groundcovers.
The event is offered by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project and sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks as part of the Island County watershed project.

Lake Stevens: Concert pianist to perform
Internationally known concert pianist Sam Rotman is scheduled to perform in Lake Stevens on Wednesday.
The free shows are scheduled for noon and 7 p.m. at the Calvary Chapel of Lake Stevens, 9428 Fourth St. SE.
Complimentary refreshments are planned.

Clearview: Apply to EMS levy committee
Snohomish County Fire District 7 is accepting applications for the emergency medical services levy committee.
Applicants have until Tuesday to submit a letter of interest that includes their name, telephone number and, if available, fax number. Applicants also need to say whether or not they support a proposition to increase the EMS levy.
Committee members will prepare statements in the coming weeks for voter pamphlets. Statements will advocate either for rejection or approval of the levy increase, scheduled to appear on the Aug. 17 ballot.
