Lake Stevens: Fire budget session

Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens plans a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to go over the 2015 budget.

The meeting will be held at district headquarters, 1825 South Lake Stevens Road.

People will be allowed to ask questions before the budget is adopted. The final budget will be posted at www.lsfire.org. For more information, call 425-334-3034.

Mill Creek: Land-use hearing

The Mill Creek City Council has scheduled a public hearing at 6 p.m. Tuesday to consider a request to vacate about 9,505 square feet of unopened right-of-way. The land is located along the eastern boundary of property at 15011 35th Ave. SE.

The hearing is to take place at City Hall, 15728 Main St. For more information, call 425-921-5726. People also may submit comments in writing to the city clerk by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Mountlake Terrace: Police officer promoted

Mountlake Terrace police officer Chuck Elrod has been promoted to sergeant. He took the oath of office at a City Council meeting earlier this month.

Elrod has worked for the city for more than 12 years, with a pause when he took another job. He has served on the SWAT team and in the motorcycle unit.

Snohomish: New emergency equipment

Snohomish County Fire District 4 in Snohomish has used donations to purchase video laryngoscopes, camera devices used to administer breathing tubes.

The devices are becoming standard for emergency medical care, according to a district news release. Everett crews also use the devices.

Sultan: Library to close Saturday

The Sultan Library is scheduled to be closed Saturday for building maintenance. The city-owned building will undergo cleaning of the ventilation system.

The humanities program, “A World of Sweets in Washington State,” that was set for Saturday has been rescheduled. It’ll take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 8.

Library service is available this weekend at the Monroe Library, located at 1070 Village Way, and online at sno-isle.org.

The Sultan Library is expected to reopen Monday under regular hours.
