Everett: Valley View neighborhood meeting
The Valley View Neighborhood Association plans to discuss sprucing up the entrance way at the 75th Street overpass.
The association received a grant from the Everett Office of Neighborhoods to pay for the project and it is now asking residents what they would like to see. Suggestions include a play area and a community garden.
The group meets 7 p.m. Wednesday in the library at Lowell Elementary School, 5010 View Drive.

Everett: Volunteer training offered
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County presents a six-week community education and volunteer training class starting Monday evening and running through June 8. The classes are on Monday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on May 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Classes are provided free to volunteers willing to commit to 10 hours of volunteer time within a six-month period for Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

Everett: Learn how to keep kids safe
Snohomish County Safe Kids helps parents and children learn about safety at a free event with fun activities for the whole family. Come to the Everett Mall on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Lake Stevens: Exchange skills at family center
The Lake Stevens Family Center has started a Community Skills Exchange and Job Board.
The intent is to create an informal trading system in which goods or services are directly exchanged for other goods or services without the use of money.
Anyone interested may join the Skills Exchange by coming to the center, filling out a questionnaire, and posting their service and request. The Family Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Stanwood: Advice on stopping bullies
A community meeting on preventing bullying planned for Tuesday by Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center, Healthy Choices Coalition of Stanwood and Camano Island Community Mobilization.
The free presentation is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Stanwood Middle School cafeteria, 9405 271st St. NW. Refreshments are planned.
Featured speaker Paul Figueroa will provide information on how adults and young people can identify a bully.
