Monroe

Residents can dump junk on the city’s dime

Garbage customers in Monroe can get rid of junk at a free cleanup day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Monroe High School, 17001 Tester Road.

The city will accept furniture, wood no longer than 4 feet and no thicker than 4 inches, auto parts with any fluid drained, and most appliances for no fee. Refrigerator and freezer disposal will cost $30.

Bring a complete city of Monroe utility bill showing garbage charges and picture identification.

The city won’t accept hazardous waste such as paint or gasoline, regular household garbage, construction debris, electronics or medical waste.

Senior citizens or disabled residents who need help with disposal or transportation of items should call the city by Wednesday.

Mountlake Terrace

Chat with the city manager over a cup of coffee

The public is invited to have coffee with city manager John Caulfield on Nov. 12.

The event is 8 to 9 a.m. at the Recreation Pavilion Center Court, 5303 228th St. SW.

Caulfield is hosting talks called Coffee with the City. The city manager will provide updates about what’s happening in the city and will take questions and comments about city services and events.

Everett

Volunteers sought for several city boards

Everett is seeking volunteers to serve on several boards and commissions. Terms are four or six years, beginning Jan. 1. Applications are available at the mayor’s office, 2930 Wetmore Ave., Suite 10A. To have an application e-mailed, call 425-257-7115.

Openings include: Animal Control Advisory Board, Cultural Commission, Diversity Advisory Board, Historical Commission, Housing and Community Development, Human Needs Committee, Parks Board, Planning Commission, Senior Center Advisory Board, Transportation Advisory Committee and Tree Committee.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 14.

Snohomish

Auction will benefit arts

Dozens of art pieces in various media created by local artists will be on display and available for bidding at a silent auction beginning today at the Arts of Snohomish Gallery, 105 Cedar Ave.

The public is welcome to bid until Dec. 6. That evening, the gallery will hold a reception. Money raised benefits the gallery.

The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays

Garden club has auction

Place a bid on garden-oriented items and support the Snohomish Garden Club at the group’s meeting Monday at the Snohomish High School cafeteria, 1316 Fifth St. Auction items include a weekend at a home in the San Juan Islands, gardening services, plants and garden supplies. The organization is holding a silent auction after its regular meeting. Bidding and the meeting starts at 6:45 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public, although there is a $5 fee for nonmembers. The meeting guest is wildlife biologist Russell Link.

Mukilteo

Guild offers Art Mart

The Mukilteo Arts Guild and city of Mukilteo are planning a Holiday Art Mart for Saturday.

The event is 10 to 4 p.m. at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave.

Jewelry, fused glass, quilts, pottery, clothing, sculptures, fountains and home decorations, made by local artisans, are among the items expected to be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the vendor fees will go to the Mukilteo School District High School Senior Scholarship Fund for seniors who plan to pursue the arts in college.
