City considers adopting anti-idling ordinance
A proposal to place signs that discourage engine idling in the city of Edmonds is planned to be discussed by the Edmonds City Council Public Safety Committee.
The city committee meeting is 6 p.m. today at the Edmonds Public Safety Complex at 250 Fifth Ave. N.
In April, City Councilman Steve Bernheim suggested the city adopt an anti-idling ordinance to cut down on vehicle emissions in the city, particularly from traffic lined up at the ferry terminal.
Other council members and city staff suggested a public education program might be more effective than trying to enforce a new law.
Bernheim is planning to show council members anti-idling signs he obtained from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.
