Senior center seeks items for estate sale
Items are being accepted for the Lake Stevens Senior Center’s estate sale, which is planned for September.
Items may be dropped off from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays through Aug. 9 at the Eagle Ridge Park garage, 2302 Soper Hill Road.
The sale, which benefits the Lake Stevens Senior Center, is Sept. 5-7 at Eagle Ridge Park.

Kids invited to free fishing on Wednesdays
Children 14 and under and their parents are invited to Fishing in the Cove every Wednesday in July.
The free event, co-sponsored by the Lake Stevens Family Center and Greg’s Custom Fishing Rods, is 10 to 11 a.m. each Wednesday during the month at North Cove Park, behind City Hall at 1812 Main St.
All necessary equipment, including bait, will be provided. Beginners are welcome.

Marysville
Camp Fire program for kids this summer
A Camp Fire USA middle school program, Summer of Service, is scheduled to be offered twice in Snohomish County this summer, including two weeks in Marysville.
Kids who participate will work on a community service project of their choosing.
The two-week day camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the weeks of July 21 and 28 at Emerson Elementary School, 8702 Seventh Ave. SE, Everett.
In Marysville, the camp runs on the weeks of Aug. 4 and 11 at Rotary Ranch at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road.
The camp costs $20.

Monroe
U.S. 2 memorials will commemorate deaths
The state Department of Transportation plans to install roadside memorials along U.S. 2 to stop people from driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The memorials are for those who died along the highway since 1999.
This is part of the ongoing U.S. 2 Traffic Safety Corridor project, which started last year to make the highway safer.
People can also work with the state to install memorials for victims killed in other types of crashes along the highway.

Snohomish
Second Street, Avenue A project starts this week
The city is set to start improving the intersection of Second Street and Avenue A this week. The project includes adding a signal to the intersection and adding traffic lanes, sidewalks and pavement. It’s expected to wrap up in February 2009.
During the project, traffic delays are expected along Second Street.
