Event raises $7,600 for heart transplant recipient
A fundraising event for Dale Jarman, who needs a heart transplant, raised about $7,600 on July 26, said Linda West, Jarman’s longtime girlfriend.
Jarman, 48, is on a waiting list for a heart transplant at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. The procedure could cost him up to $500,000.
People also can donate money to the Dale Jarman Heart Transplant Fund at local Key Bank branches.

National Night Out Against Crime is Tuesday
Marysville’s police and fire departments invite residents to the National Night Out Against Crime, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Comeford Park on Tuesday.
The event will include informational booths by police and fire services, as well as kids activities and free Kidcare Identification Kits.

Free family picnic planned at Hill Park
A family picnic runs from noon to dusk on Aug. 24 at Hill Park, 1600 Park Ave. The free event will include games and live music.
People are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunch or supper from home. No vendors or food will be available on site.
A bike tour of edible gardens in Snohomish will also be led by Marilene Richardson of the Foundation for Sustainable Community.
