City gets money for sewer projects
The city has secured $500,000 in state money to upgrade its wastewater treatment plant and to reduce sewer overflows to the Snohomish River, city officials said Thursday.
The work is expected to cost more than $20 million. In addition to the recent $500,000, the city has secured about $4.9 million in state grants for the project.
The work is required by a 2003 settlement that Snohomish reached with Puget Sound Keeper Alliance, an environmental group, city officials said.

Snohomish school leaders want feedback
Members of the Snohomish School Board, district administration and a school building advisory committee are hosting three forums Thursday to hear from voters about a possible construction bond measure.
A $261 million bond proposal on March 11 is expected to fail when the final ballots are counted. It has more than a 55 percent “yes” vote, but needs a 60 percent supermajority.
The school board is exploring several options, including putting another bond proposal on the ballot in May.
The first meeting on Thursday is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Snohomish Public Library, 311 Maple Ave.
The other two are at the same time — from 6:30 to 8 p.m. — at Valley View Middle School, 14308 Broadway Ave., and at Centennial Middle School, 3000 Machias Road.
