Plans for a regional fire authority in south Snohomish County are lingering.
A meeting set in December now is tentatively scheduled for mid-January, according to fire officials.
Cities and fire districts between Everett and the Snohomish-King counties line spent years in talks before most dropped out of the plan.
The remaining participating agencies are Fire District 1, Mountlake Terrace and Brier.

The county owns more than 20 acres on the west side of the lake and plans to continue adding to those holdings. Plans now are to keep the area natural. Future plans could include walking trails and an off-leash dog park.
