Comcast Arena bond refinancing approved

The public facilities board that owns Comcast Arena has approved a plan to refinance variable-rate bonds.

Earlier this year the arena enjoyed interest rates as low as 0.65 percent. The financial crisis has sent those rates upward — they’re now at 2.75 percent.

The arena issued $27.4 million in revenue bonds now affected by an overseas financial crisis.

Belgian-French bank Dexia backs some of the municipal bonds held by the Everett Public Facilities District.

That bank also has billions of dollars of exposure to Greece’s debt.
