Everett: Animal shelter needs help

The Everett Animal Shelter needs donations of liquid bleach and liquid laundry detergent.

To donate, drop off items at the shelter, 333 Smith Island Road, Everett.

Mill Creek: Police promotions

Two Mill Creek police officers have been promoted.

Starting Nov. 1, officers Stan White and Bart Foutch will be sergeants.

White has been an officer in Mill Creek for eight years. He is a field training officer and has been serving as an acting sergeant for nine months. Foutch has been with the department for six years.

A public promotion ceremony is planned for 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the City Council meeting at City Hall.

Marysville: Firefighters don pink

Marysville firefighters plan to don pink duty shirts Monday through Wednesday for breast cancer awareness.

Firefighters around the nation were encouraged to participate in the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign, Marysville Fire Marshal Tom Maloney said.

The shirts signify hope, strength and courage for people battling breast cancer, he said.

Several fire departments around Snohomish County are participating in similar pink-shirt campaigns, including Everett.

Sultan: City seeks to fill council vacancy

The city is accepting applications from those interested in filling Sam Pinson’s council seat until November 2012.

Interested people need to submit applications to city clerk Laura Koenig by the Nov. 10 deadline. The applications are available at City Hall, 319 Main St., or at the city’s website, http://www.ci.sultan.wa.us/Work/Jobs.

The position pays a maximum of $1,800 a year.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, have lived within city limits for at least a consecutive year before being appointed and be a registered voter.

Candidates are scheduled to be interviewed at the council meeting starting at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 22 at the council’s chambers, 319 Main St.

Pinson resigned his Position No. 1 seat at the Oct. 7 council meeting, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
