Bothell: Delay for annexation review

A Boundary Review Board hearing about Bothell’s proposed annexation of about 22,000 people from unincorporated Snohomish County has been postponed for a week.

The new hearing time is slated for 4 p.m. June 27 on the first floor of the Robert J. Drewel Building, 3000, Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

The board turned down a citizen-led annexation two years ago over issues of solid waste rights and fire protection. Though some of those issues now appear to be headed toward resolution, Snohomish County Fire District 1 continues to have concerns about the city’s plans for providing fire and emergency medical services on a western portion of the annexation area.

The board is scheduled to adopt its decision by July 13.

Edmonds: Clean audit for schools

A recent state financial audit of the Edmonds School District found no problems for the fiscal year that ended Aug. 31.

The report from state Auditor Brian Sonntag’s office examined the district’s internal controls over money. It also examined how well the district complies with federal standards necessary to keep federal programs and grants.

The Edmonds School District educates about 20,000 students in Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Woodway and parts of unincorporated Snohomish County.

The results of the audit were announced last week.
