Studies for motocross proposal pending
A company seeking to build a motocross track along the Mountain Loop Highway outside Granite Falls has until the end of August to submit more studies to Snohomish County planners.
Planners are waiting for MXGP of Kirkland to provide information on traffic, noise and ground water.
The hearing examiner would have to approve any plan. No hearing date has been scheduled.
The proposal calls for a track occupying 17 percent of 400-plus acres of timberland. Trees would be left on the rest. The Mountain Loop Conservancy advocacy group and other opponents think the site is ill-suited for motorcycle racing. Locals in the motocross scene, meanwhile, have to drive hours to find a public track.
