VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police in Vancouver say they’ve made an arrest in a scam that involved a woman asking to use the home phones of elderly residents, then stealing from them.
The Columbian reported that 40-year-old Christina Higdon of Vancouver was arrested Tuesday. She was booked into the Clark County Jail for investigation of three counts of third-degree theft, possession of methamphetamine, two outstanding felony warrants and two misdemeanor warrants.
Police say the phone scammer knocked on residents’ doors over the past month and a half, asking to use the phone. When she left the homes, residents would find that a purse or money was missing. Most victims were in their 70s and 80s.
Police are continuing their investigation.
