YAKIMA — The Sunnyside Police Department says a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in a shooting that wounded a Yakima County sheriff’s deputy in Outlook.
A department news release this morning says police will seek two counts of attempted murder. The arrest was made Tuesday night.
Two deputies were responding to a report of shots fired just before midnight Monday, when one was hit in the lower back. He was treated at a hospital and released.
Sheriff Ken Irwin says the second deputy was not shot, but suffered deep cuts on his hands when he had to dive for cover.
Authorities identified the deputies as Bobby Miranda and Chris Stearley, but the news release did not indicate which one was shot.
