LYNNWOOD – Investigators say arson is the cause of a fire that led to heavy damage at a Lynnwood-area restaurant Friday night, resulting in losses estimated at more than $40,000.
Neighbors reported the fire at Martha Lake Wok and Teriyaki in the 16400 block of Sixth Avenue W. about 10:20 p.m. The restaurant had closed for the evening and was unoccupied.
“The back of the building was in flames and the fire was already spreading to the roof when our first unit arrived on the scene,” said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, Hynes said. Although most of the fire damage was contained to the rear of the building and the roof, there was heavy damage throughout the restaurant.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate.

House fire: A pile of firewood stacked too close to a wood stove caught fire Friday afternoon, causing a blaze that resulted in an estimated $60,000 in damage to a Snohomish-area home, fire officials said.
