YAKIMA — Firefighters estimate damage from an arson fire at Robertson Elementary School in Yakima at about $100,000.
Police are looking for the person who broke in early Sunday and set fire to the library.
The fire department says the fire was discovered by a security guard responding to a burglar alarm.
School District spokeswoman Mary Beth Wright told Yakima Herald-Republic the fire damaged two waist-high book shelves and the books they held.
The fire melted plastic coverings on ceiling lights and caused smoke damage throughout the library.
Students are on Christmas break and won’t return until Jan. 3.
