SPOKANE — Philanthropist Myrtle E. Woldson has donated full funding to build and furnish a performing arts center on the Gonzaga University campus.
Woldson was 104 years old when she died April 11.
Gonzaga President Thayne McCulloh says the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center will be 52,000 square feet, with a 750-seat theater. It will also have areas dedicated to instruction in music, dance and theater arts.
Many of the details of the facility, including its cost and location on campus, have not been finalized and will be announced this fall.
Woldson was a businesswoman and the daughter of an industrialist who helped build the Great Northern Railway.
