EVERETT — A 14-year-old girl attacked on the Interurban Trail remained in serious condition Friday, but was moved from the pediatric intensive care unit to a pediatric nursing floor in a Seattle hospital.
An unknown attacker repeatedly stabbed the girl and choked her early Monday as she headed to a friend’s house along the popular, paved trail. Everett police continue to investigate the attack.
The girl remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, hospital spokeswoman Kristin Foley said.
"The victim is doing much better," Deputy Chief of Investigations Jerry Burke said Friday. "We believe we’re finally going to get a chance to interview her early next week."
Since the attack, transients living in a tent camp near the trail have moved out, he said. On Thursday, city or Snohomish County Public Utility District workers cut grass and trimmed back brush in the area, he said.
"We have had quite a presence out there," Burke said.
Police have not finished searching the area.
