Bail was set at $500,000 Thursday for an Everett man arrested in connection with a series of drive-by shootings in the Everett and Snohomish areas.
He’s one of three people Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies have arrested in the incidents.
A 17-year-old youth was being held in the Denney Juvenile Justice Center. A 39-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday and posted $10,000 bail but has not appeared in court.
On Thursday, Byron August Ross, 18, made a brief appearance in Everett District Court. He had been scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday after his arrest on three counts of drive-by shooting, but he posted a $30,000 bond and was temporarily released.
Deputies arrested him again for investigation of two additional counts of drive-by shooting and one count of first-degree burglary, deputy prosecutor John Adcock said.
In court Thursday, deputy prosecutor Jim Townsend asked for the $500,000 bail.
Marybeth Dingledy, a public defender, told judge pro-tem Doug Fair that Ross has a place to live in Everett and should be released from jail.
Townsend protested: "This person enjoys shooting into other people’s houses. He should not be released."
Fair agreed.
Deputies arrested the three following an investigation into a spate of shootings in which people could have been hurt, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
There were no injuries, but a 90-year-old woman who was standing at her kitchen sink felt a bullet go by her leg. A bullet struck her cabinet and wood debris exploded onto her legs and feet, court papers say.
At least three homes were hit Nov. 3, including ones in the 16000 block of Connelly Road in Snohomish; the 1900 block of Douglas Avenue in Everett; and the 1900 block of 51st Avenue SE in Everett, documents say.
Prosecutors said numerous other cases are under investigation.
