The Barefoot Bandit reportedly is wearing a cast. Colton Harris-Moore, 20, broke his leg playing volleyball, KIRO TV reporter Chris Egert said on Twitter this morning.
KIRO, The Herald’s news partner, confirmed the broken leg with John Henry Browne, Harris-Moore’s defense attorney.
Harris-Moore, who is charged with nearly 40 crimes, is being held in the Federal Detention Center in Sea-Tac. He’s awaiting trial on six federal charges and more than 30 state felonies.
The Camano Island man gained international notoriety for a two-year crime spree across nine states and in three countries. He earned the Barefoot Bandit nickname because he sometimes went without shoes.
He was arrested on July 11 in the Bahamas.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys have said that the criminal case is expected to end with a plea agreement.
