EVERETT – Seahawks fans can take Sounder trains to the playoff game against the Washington Redskins in Seattle today. That is, mudslides permitting.
Railroad tracks between Everett and Seattle were closed most of the week because of mudslides, but reopened Friday, in time for today’s game.
Two Sounder trains will take Seahawks fans from Everett and Edmonds to Union Station, only a short walk from Qwest stadium.
If there are more mudslides, Sound Transit will provide buses at both stations to take fans to and from the game. If buses are used, catch your return bus at Fourth Avenue S. and S. Jackson Street in Seattle.
A round-trip ticket is $6 for adults, $4.50 for children 6 to 8 years old, free for children under 6, and $3 for seniors 65 and older and for people with disabilities. Buy your tickets at machines at Sounder stations.
“I think there are going to be more people than usual,” said Lee Somerstein, a Sound Transit spokesman. “If people can get to the station in advance, they’d save themselves a little hassle.”
The first train is scheduled to leave Everett Station at 11 a.m., stop at Edmonds Station at 11:25 a.m. and arrive in Seattle at 11:58 a.m.
The second train is scheduled to leave Everett at 11:20 a.m., leave Edmonds at 11:45 a.m. and arrive in Seattle at 12:18 p.m.
The first return train will leave the stadium about 10 minutes after the game ends, or when it fills up, and the second about 40 minutes after the game.
