Beach cleanup on tap
Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Day is planned Saturday to remove trash and debris from the world’s beaches and waterways, identify the sources of the junk and learn to change how it reaches the water in the first place.
Join Edmonds Wildlife Habitat &Sustainability Project at Edmonds beaches. Sign-in and get a bag at 9 a.m. at the Edmonds Beach Ranger Station at 200 West Dayton St.
Watch for signs and balloons. Snacks and water will be provided. Please bring your own reusable coffee cup and or water bottle.

College seeks volunteers: Everett Community College’s Adult Literacy Center seeks volunteers who can offer two or more hours per week to assist adults learning to read, write, speak English or do basic math.
Tutoring times and locations are flexible. Training is free with a six month commitment.
EvCC’s “Lions for Literacy” program serves more than 500 adult students every year.
“Volunteers are often the key that leads to the students’ success in classes, as family members, employees and community members,” volunteer coordinator Judy Frost said.

Hear stories in Granite Falls: Children ages 3 to 5 and their parents or caregivers are invited to come to preschool story time at the Granite Falls Library.
The program is at 11 a.m. Wednesday and Sept. 29 at 815 E. Galena St. in Granite Falls.
