TULALIP — Police arrested a 53-year-old man Thursday for assaulting an acquaintance, leaving him with wounds in his head that required staples, according to the Tulalip Police Department.
Around 2 a.m. Monday, the wounded man reported to Tulalip police he had been assaulted. He only knew the man by one name, and he had reportedly been repairing a boat with him before the assault, according to a police report.
The injured man said he was hit five to six times with a two-by-four piece of lumber in the 4300 block of Marine Drive on the Tulalip Reservation. He was bleeding from his head and his arm was broken, the report said.
The wounded man was transported to the hospital where he received staples for the head wounds. He was also treated for a concussion and a broken arm.
Police presented a “photo montage” of multiple people, and the injured man immediately pointed out the man who reportedly assaulted him, according to police.
No apparent motive was mentioned in the police report.
The suspect, who was listed as a Tulalip resident, was arrested for investigation of first-degree assault. In court, a deputy prosecutor noted the defendant had 34 prior warrants. His only past felony conviction was for possession of a stolen vehicle.
At the bail hearing Thursday, Everett District Court Judge Anthony Howard found probable cause and set bail at $50,000.
