LONGVIEW — Bedbugs have infested the Community House homeless shelter in Longview and officials are scratching their heads over how to evict the little bloodsuckers.
Director Rich Kirk says about a fourth of the 82 residents have bites.
He told The Daily News of Longview the shelter has already replaced some mattresses and is ordering plastic covers for 150 mattresses and box springs. Residents are being treated with calamine lotion.
It could take months and cost more than $10,000 for a pest control company to treat the building.
Bruce Head of Pioneer Pest Management of Vancouver says bedbugs are the most difficult pest to eliminate because they hide in walls.
