SEATTLE — A King County District Court judge has ordered a 53-year-old man held on $2 million bail in the slaying of the 72-year-old aunt with whom he lived in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue.
Mark Irwin was arrested for investigation of second-degree murder in the death of Barbara Irwin. Her body was found Sunday night in her apartment.
The Seattle Times reported that court papers say relatives told police Mark Irwin had a history of drug abuse and stealing from the family. The newspaper says court records show Irwin has a criminal history that includes convictions for robbery, theft and taking motor vehicles.
Bellevue police say the woman’s body was discovered by a family member who grew concerned about her welfare.
Irwin was arrested Monday during a traffic stop.
It was not immediately clear Tuesday whether Mark Irwin is represented by a lawyer.
