BELLINGHAM — A man who worked as a Girl Scout camp volunteer in Bellingham has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexually abusing a teenager and asking a second girl to text him explicit photos of herself.
The Bellingham Herald reported Andre Acosta-Ruiz was charged in 2012 and is now 20 years old.
A judge approved a plea deal and Acosta-Ruiz was transferred Tuesday to prison.
A spokeswoman for Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Kate Dabe, says it’s doing everything it can to safeguard the well-being of girls.
