MONROE — A bicyclist was taken to a Seattle hospital early Wednesday morning after being hit by an SUV on U.S. 2 near Monroe.
The collision occurred east of Roosevelt Road around 12:30 a.m.
The bicyclist, 54, was driven by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary said.
The Snohomish man suffered “various injuries and is expected to live,” Leary said.
The SUV driver, 49, was arrested for investigation of DUI.
A State Patrol memo said the SUV was eastbound when it struck the bike, which also was eastbound. The collision remains under investigation.
The road was closed for almost three hours, but a detour was in place that prevented traffic backups.
