Bicyclist injured in collision with car

EVERETT – A 35-year-old man was critically injured when he was struck by a pickup at 7:30 a.m. today in the intersection of 4th Avenue W and 112th Street SW, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokesman Rich Niebusch said.

The man was riding his bicycle southbound on 4th Avenue W when he was hit by the pickup, driven by a 51-year-old Everett man. The bicyclist was thrown about 20 feet into the air and landed on the pavement. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered serious head injuries, Niebusch said.

He was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
