A man who has admitted killing a mail-order bride is facing a new felony charge for allegedly biting the finger of a corrections officer at the Snohomish County Jail — who then bit him back.
Daniel Kristopher Larson, 21, added insult to injury in the mid-July attack, Snohomish County prosecutors alleged in court papers filed Thursday.
"After this incident, Mr. Larson sent a letter to one of the other inmates stating, among other things, that he now understands why cops are called ‘pigs,’ since they taste ‘just like bacon,’ " deputy prosecutor Colleen St. Clair said.
Larson recently pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the September 2000 killing of Anastasia King, 20, a mail-order bride from Mountlake Terrace. As part of his plea, Larson agreed to testify against Indle Gifford King, Jr., 40, the slain woman’s husband and Larson’s former landlord.
Indle King is charged with first-degree murder in his wife’s death. King has pleaded innocent. His trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 7.
Larson is now facing a third-degree assault charge for the alleged attack on the corrections officer.
The biting occurred after Larson jammed the emergency call button on his cell and refused to be handcuffed so the device could be repaired, St. Clair alleged. Officers entered the cell, and Larson bit one on the finger "and would not let go," according to court papers.
Larson stopped biting when the officer bit him back, drawing blood, the prosecutor wrote.
The officer had to undergo treatment for potential exposure to blood-borne illnesses.
Larson remains in the jail, awaiting to testify at King’s trial. Under state sentencing guidelines, Larson faces anywhere from slightly more than 14 1/2years to nearly 23 years in prison for murdering Anastasia King. He also is awaiting sentencing for attempting to force sex on a young woman in Lynnwood.
