SPOKANE — The Bureau of Land Management has canceled a wild horse adoption event in Ellensburg.
The event had been scheduled for June 10-11 at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds. A recent outbreak of the equine herpes virus that is highly contagious among horses prompted the agency to cancel the event Thursday.
Several upcoming regional horse events have been voluntarily canceled as a precaution to prevent the spread of the disease.
