EVERETT — A boater rescued three passengers this morning from another vessel that was taking on water near Naval Station Everett.
The rescue happened after the U.S. Coast Guard in Seattle sent out an urgent marine broadcast reporting that a 27-foot pleasure craft with three people onboard called for help, just after 6 a.m.
Another boater was able to race to the sinking boat and put the passengers on a dock at a naval pier.
The stricken vessel later capsized. Crews from the Port of Everett surrounded it with oil containment booms, the Coast Guard said. The boat was righted and and towed away. No oil sheens were visible in the water.
