CAMANO ISLAND – A woman whose body was discovered Tuesday morning near the entrance to Camano Island State Park has been identified as Tamara Marice Mattson, 39, of Everett.
Mattson, who had head and neck injuries, was likely killed sometime in the previous 24 hours, Island County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Smith said.
Investigators believe her body was dumped at the park, Smith said. It is unknown where the homicide occurred. No arrests have been made.
Mattson’s body was found about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday by a man walking his dog on a trail between the park and Cama Beach State Park. The trail is near the parking lot and Lowell Point Road and is visible from the roadway.
Anyone with information about Mattson or who may have seen or heard unusual activity in the area should contact detective Shawn Warwick or detective Sgt. Mike Beech at 360-679-9567.
