ELGIN, Ore. — Detectives investigating the death of a woman whose hand was found in an eastern Oregon pond have discovered the remains of two additional homicide victims, and charged a self-employed house painter with murder in all three slayings.
District Attorney Tim Thompson of Union County said Monday the bodies of 50-year-old Frank Scaramuzzi and 28-year-old Jeremiah Johnston were found in a secluded area north of Elgin this weekend. Both had been sought in the death of 51-year-old Shannon McKillop, whose hand was found July 24.
Thompson identified 42-year-old Gregory Alvin Cook as the suspect in all three deaths. He has been charged with aggravated murder, and is still being sought. Thompson said Cook and the three victims all knew each other, and were last spotted together in mid-July.
Cook was last seen in Hermiston on July 31 and may be hitchhiking, Thompson said. He was described as 6-foot-1, 160 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He was dressed in white painter pants, slippers, a dark green multicolored long-sleeved shirt, and white undershirt. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Thompson said Cook was charged with murder in the death of McKillop, and two counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of the other two victims.
