Body of Lynnwood teen recovered from lake

David V. Fesko tried swimming to shore after falling off a flotation device.

LYNNWOOD — The body of a 17-year-old Lynnwood boy was recovered Saturday from Banks Lake in Grant County after he went missing Friday night.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office said friends reported David V. Fesko tried swimming to shore after falling off a flotation device around 8:30 p.m. in the lake near Steamboat Rock State Park. Fesko went under water and didn’t resurface, officials said.

Deputies, state park rangers and boaters searched the water until nightfall. Spokane County Sheriff’s dive team resumed the search Saturday morning. Divers found Fesko’s body around 6 p.m.

The coroner has not released the cause and manner of death.
