MONROE — The body of a missing Gold Bar man was recovered Thursday from the Skykomish River.
Olaf Eriksen, 70, was reported missing Monday. He last was seen walking away from his home, and some of his personal items were found near the river that day. A helicopter crew searched for Eriksen while the Snohomish County sheriff’s Marine Unit scoured the river.
Three fishermen called 911 Thursday afternoon after spotting a man in the water near the 27600 block of 170th Street SE. Eriksen’s body was recovered about 90 minutes later, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The Snohomish County medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Eriksen suffered from dementia.
