SNOHOMISH — Divers recovered a body from Blackmans Lake Sunday morning.
Officials believe it’s the body of a 38-year-old fisherman who went missing Dec. 6, 2014. The man, from Lake Forest Park, was last seen fishing on Blackmans Lake north of downtown Snohomish.
The county Sheriff’s Office Dive Team called off its active search for the fisherman on Dec. 12, 2014. People who live around the lake were asked to keep an eye out for the man.
At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, two people spotted something floating in the lake. When police and divers arrived, they discovered it was the body of a man in a yellow rain jacket, the same color jacket the fisherman was last seen wearing.
“With the relation of the yellow jacket, and we don’t have any other missings out there, we strongly believe it’s the missing fisherman,” said Lt. Susy Johnson with the county sheriff’s office.
The county medical examiner is working to positively identify the body and determine cause of death. The man’s name will not be released until after the official identification.
The fisherman’s family has been notified. They previously have declined interviews and asked for privacy.
