NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A representative with American Airlines says a Boeing 777 made an emergency landing at the Nashville International Airport after the pilot became ill.
Tim Smith told WSMV-TV the airplane was headed from Chicago to Miami on Friday when it was diverted to Nashville around 12:30 p.m. Smith said the plane landed safely — http://bit.ly/qg2U0f.
He said the pilot became ill during the flight, but it’s not clear what caused it.
Boeing 777 is considered the world’s largest twinjet airliner. It has seating for more than 300 passengers. It is unknown how many passengers were on board the diverted flight.
A phone call to the airline was not immediately returned to The Associated Press seeking more comment.
